Maria Chen Announces Campaign for County Supervisor

Former City Council member Maria Chen announced today that she is running for Riverside County Board of Supervisors, District 3.

RIVERSIDE, CA – Former City Council member Maria Chen announced today that she is running for Riverside County Board of Supervisors, District 3. Chen, a lifelong District 3 resident and small business owner, will focus her campaign on affordable housing, public safety, and economic development.

“I’m running for County Supervisor because I believe our county government can do better,” Chen said. “For too long, decisions have been made in Sacramento and Washington that affect our daily lives, while county government—the level closest to us—has been an afterthought. I want to change that.”

Chen served on the Riverside City Council from 2018 to 2022, where she passed the city’s first inclusionary housing ordinance and established a small business grant program that helped over 50 local businesses survive the pandemic. She also served on the Riverside County Housing Authority and currently owns Chen’s Bakery on Main Street.

“Maria Chen is exactly the kind of leader we need on the Board of Supervisors,” said Mayor Janet Williams, who is endorsing Chen’s campaign. “She listens, she works hard, and she delivers results.”

The election for County Supervisor will be held on November 3, 2026.
