Economic Development
Good jobs and thriving businesses in every neighborhood.
The Challenge
Too many residents struggle to find good-paying jobs close to home. While our district has many successful businesses, we need to do more to attract employers, support entrepreneurs, and ensure that economic growth benefits everyone.
My Plan
Support Local Businesses
- Expand small business support programs, including grants, loans, and technical assistance
- Streamline permitting and licensing processes
- Support “buy local” initiatives
- Advocate for policies that help local businesses compete against large chains
Attract New Employers
- Market District 3 as a business-friendly community
- Support workforce development programs that train residents for in-demand jobs
- Invest in infrastructure that attracts employers
- Partner with UC Riverside and local colleges to support innovation and entrepreneurship
Create Pathways to Good Jobs
- Expand apprenticeship and job training programs
- Support community college career and technical education programs
- Connect residents with employment services
- Advocate for project labor agreements on county contracts
My Record
As a small business owner myself, I understand the challenges facing local entrepreneurs. On the City Council, I established a small business grant program that helped over 50 local businesses survive the pandemic.
